Securing funds with a Service Agreement

A signed Service Agreement can be provided to a Plan Manager at So Joe to assist in securing the funds for a participant. A Service Agreement is an agreement between a NDIS participant and a service provider. It provides information to ensure it is clear what you have both agreed to. It is covered by Australian Consumer Law.

The agreement must be signed by the service provider and an authorised representative of the participant and be submitted via email to So Joe to be processed. A So Joe Plan Manager will then confirm if this agreement is valid for securing. This supports the Plan Manager to budget the participant’s funds with them.

The agreement must be within the participant’s current NDIS plan dates and within budget. Please note the participant or their representative have the right to cancel the Service Agreement at any time and we are obliged to follow their directive.

NDIA Recommendations

The NDIA recommends having a written service agreement so it is clear to both parties, what supports will be delivered and how they will be delivered. A service agreement is only recommended, however, it must be in place for Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA).

Service Agreement Inclusions

  • What supports are being provided
  • The cost of the supports
  • Responsibilities of the provider
  • The NDIS participant’s responsibilities
  • How long the agreement goes for and how it can be changed
  • Dispute resolution process.

The NDIA will take action if the agreement doesn’t align with the NDIS Act 2013 and NDIS Price Guide.
